Nikki Member Profile

  1. How long have you been a member of OFA?
I joined in July of 2007-so coming up on 2 years here soon.
  2. Why did you join OFA - what's your favorite member benefit?
A friend invited me to an AdNight, at which I was a lucky winner of two tickets to that year's Diamonds in the Snow Christmas Party. Teri was really friendly and I just kept coming back so I thought I'd become a member. I really enjoy the AdBites luncheons.  It never ceases to amaze me what you can learn in just one hour.
  3. What is your favorite thing to eat?
Oooh, there's so many to choose from! Chocolate chip pancakes from LePeep, salad at the Olive Garden, breadsticks from Fazoli's or Grisanti's, Tiramisu at Spezia's, the little mint sticks you get at Grisanti's. I could go on for days.
  4. If you could have a super power, what would you pick?
I don't think this necessarily qualifies as a 'super power' but there are numerous times (daily really!) that I would give anything to be a fly on the wall.
  5. What's the biggest risk you've taken that was a success?
I was able to travel and study abroad for a month my senior year of college.  My parents were completely against the idea and fought me up until the day I left.  Once I returned (safe, sound and in one piece) they both applied for passports and we are now looking into the London Olympics in 2012.  Ha!
  6. What's your favorite kitchen sound?
I'd have to say a blender.because it's most likely making a smoothie or yummy beverage of some sort.
  7. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
World peace.  Isn't that always the right answer.?
  8. What's your favorite season?
My favorite season by far is Fall.  My birthday, the pumpkin patch, sweatshirt & jeans weather, college football, bonfires.there's nothing better!
  9. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A physical therapist, until I realized how long and how hard school would be!
  10. Imagine you woke up in the morning and discovered you'd switched bodies with someone you know. What would you do?
I'd switch with my 3 year-old niece.  Her biggest concerns right now are soccer, tumbling class, passing swimming lessons and how much time she gets to play outside every night. Rough!

Program Description: "Launching Pop Culture"
For well over half a century, people have been brought together by the
power of television. From The Dick Van Dyke Show, Happy Days and
M.A.S.H., to Dancing with the Stars, LOST and Grey's Anatomy, TV not
only offers an escape from the everyday, but also plays an important
role in shaping trends and impacting pop culture.  But where and how
does it all start?  Without innovative, integrated marketing plans to
help spread the word, today's hits may have amounted to nothing more
than one season memories.  Jenny Whitlock, Director, Marketing Strategy
& Research at ABC, will share insights into what it takes to break
through in a competitive landscape and the importance of understanding
and embracing emerging technology for your marketing initiatives.

Jenny Whitlock has spent the past nine years working in marketing and
advertising, seven of which have been with the Walt Disney Company.
While working for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, she directed campaigns to
launch a number of attractions and events, as well as led efforts for
the multi-year Where Dreams Come True campaign and The Year of a Million
Dreams celebration. She is currently Director of Marketing Strategy and
Research at ABC, responsible for all related efforts for primetime
programming, including such shows as Grey's Anatomy, LOST, and Dancing
with the Stars.  Jenny also leads franchise management and CRM
initiatives for the ABC Entertainment Group.

AdWars Re-Cap

OFA's ninth annual AdWars took place April 16 at Fox & Hound. Six teams competed in this year's fierce competition.  Overall, 64 people took part in the festivities, which saw Bozell, Clear Channel, Ervin & Smith, Redstone, SKAR, and Swanson Russell battle it out for the much-coveted traveling trophy.  After four rounds of tricky advertising questions, a creative challenge and a special bonus section, a champion emerged. For the third time in nine years, the Redstone Team triumphed over the competition, earning a whopping 410 points.  Redstone last took home the trophy in 2006.  Thanks to all of our trivia competitors, as well as our volunteers, for making the evening successful and a lot of fun.  This event raised more than $1,200 for OFA.  Special thanks to Patrick Stibbs and Mark Carpenter for putting everything together and running the show and to Brooke Janousek and First National Bank for donating the smartOne Visa Gift Cards for the raffle.

Special thanks to Patrick Stibbs and Mark Carpenter for putting everything together and running the show, to Brooke Janousek and First National Bank for donating the smartOne Visa Gift Cards for the raffle, to Dave Sanders from the Omaha World-Herald for donating the 1958 Stan Freberg recording for the raffle and to Greg Ahrens for his work converting the Stan Freberg recording to an audio disc.
