have been an AAF Omaha member for over five years and have been a
part of the Meet The Pro’s committee three times. I am currently a
Committee Board Member for Special Events.
2. What is
the best benefit of being a member of AAF Omaha? Being

talented agencies and individuals involved in AAF Omaha; just being
able to network and see the level of work everyone produces for AAF
Omaha is very impressive, and quite amusing.
3.
What makes the field of advertising so
intriguing? Catchy slogans, creative layouts, clever
campaigns, media buys, endorsements, every changing technology . . .
just a few of my favorite things.
4. What is your
favorite Super Bowl commercial of all time? Definitely
the Snickers commercial featuring Betty White that debuted during

yellow snow! No really- Love many, trust a few, always paddle your

morning and loving what I do for a living and coming home to a
wonderful family. Professionally – Developing a public relations
campaign that brought more than a million hits to the allmakes.com

8.
To you, life is like a ______________________ “Life is
like a mirror, if you frown at it, it frowns back. If you smile, it
returns the greeting.”

Networking Noon – Presentation
Randy
Snow, Vice President and Creative Director for R&R
Partners, presents the strategy and inspiration behind the campaign
turned modern-day catch phrase "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in
Vegas". Snow is an expert destination marketer, top strategic
thinker, and no-holds-barred creative.
Snow's mind is
frighteningly sharp. No kidding. It's scary. The guy knows
everything. Do you know the torque of rocket fuel? Randy probably
does. Not only does he have the inhuman ability to store knowledge
like a squirrel preparing for winter, he has an uncanny ability to
mine the information to produce remarkably insightful creative
strategies. Thanks to Randy's big brain, R&R consistently
produces advertising that wins embarrassingly large amounts of
industry awards.
Snow has been pushing the creative envelope
for more than two decades, with a client list including the Las
Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Reno Sparks
Convention and Visitors Authority, Nevada Commission on Tourism, and
premier Las Vegas hotels and casinos including the MGM Grand, Luxor,
Excalibur, Circus Circus, and Bally's. His award-winning work has
appeared in Communication Arts, Archive, Adweek, and SHOOT Magazines
and The Wall Street Journal.
Under Snow's direction, R&R
Partners has received honors including finalist positions in The One
Show and back-to-back "Best of Show" ADDY awards.

Ola
Mobolade, co-author of the just-released book Marketing
to the New Majority, will provide new guidelines and
provocative implications for marketers and agencies hoping to tap
into today's general market. Leveraging new research, case studies
and thoughtful analysis from the book, the author will address such
topics as understanding diversity within diversity, moving from
ethnic targeting to intelligent targeting, and the agency model of
the future. She will also share a sneak peek of a segmentation
developed for the book, highlighting where most companies are today
and where they ought to be in order to stay relevant to the new
majority.
About Ola Mobolade Managing Director, North
America Firefly Millward Brown Ola is a master at turning
street-level social trends into insights and implications for
marketers. Her knowledge of multicultural markets, trend-leader
segments, and youth demographics allows her to bring exceptional
strategic marketing capabilities to Firefly’s clients. Prior to
working at Firefly, Ola was a senior account planner at a marketing
communications agency, where she spearheaded qualitative research
efforts for brands including Oldsmobile, Wal-Mart, Nestlé Purina,
Hefty, and Shore Bank.

Ola has developed, consulted on, and conducted studies for leading
brands with focuses on brand/product positioning, national/local
marketing assessment, new product launch testing, new product
development, market segmentation, target lifestyles, and
motivations. Her experience spans a wide range of categories,
including fast food, packaged goods, alcohol, telecommunications,
financial services, retail, cosmetics, and senior
organizations.

Welcome
to the third issue of my Legislative report for 2011. Since things
have been kinda quiet from both national and wtate legislative
issues, I though I would reflect on our 2011 Nebraska Unicameral’s
defeat of the “Happy Meal Bill” introduced earlier this year by
Senator Bill Avery.
In January Senator Avery, District
28-Lincoln, introduced legislation that would have made it illegal
to include a toy with a children’s meal unless the meal met some
strict dietary standards. Commonly called the “Happy Meal Bill,” it
brought on significant media attention both locally and nationally.
The Nebraska Restaurant Association worked hard to stop the
legislation and it was indefinitely postponed or in effect “killed”
in the Agriculture Committee by a unanimous vote on February 8,
2011.
Paraphrasing from the Association of National
Advertisers: The bill that would restrict the sale and marketing
of certain kids meals with toys unless they meet specific nutrition
standards has been killed in the Nebraska Legislature. The
Agriculture Committee held a hearing on LB 126 on February 1.
According to local industry groups, the committee voted unanimously
to “indefinitely postpone” or kill the bill. ANA submitted a letter
to the committee. ANA worked closely with our member companies, the
Nebraska Retail Federation, the Nebraska Broadcasters Association
and the Nebraska Press Association to oppose this legislation. The
ANA expects similar proposals to restrict food marketing in other
states this year. If you hear about such proposals, please contact
ANA Senior Vice President Keith Scarborough in ANA’s Washington, DC
office at kscarborough@ana.net or (202) 296-1883.
I am sure,
as well, that this is not the last we will hear of this legislation.
With child obesity reaching about 14% it is certainly a hot topic.
Have an enjoyable October and as always, if you have specific
questions or would like me to research an issue that might be
interesting to AAF-Omaha please feel free to contact me at:

ADDYs Deadline Set
Every year some of the
best work seen at the national ADDYs Awards comes from smaller
clubs. No other competition offers the opportunity and challenge to
compete at the local level, move on to districts and ultimately be
honored as one of the best at the national ADDY'S competition. In
fact, the only thing small about this competition is the cost of
entering. With more than 40,000 entries, no wonder the ADDYs Awards
are the world’s largest advertising competition.
Don’t let a
small media budget prevent the ad world from appreciating your
creativity. Enter the Nebraska ADDYs competition and let everyone in
Nebraska see what your can do, and if you’re really good, ad
professionals everywhere are going to find out when you storm
through districts on your way to the coveted gold national ADDYs.

best-performing ad networks and platforms. The findings illustrate
that advertisers and networks are continuing to standardize their
brand protection and compliance practices, ensuring their online
