OFA Small Business Marketing Seminar – Call for Speakers

The OFA’s first ever small business advertising/marketing seminar will be held on November 28, 2007, at the Scott Conference Center in conjunction with the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. The event will bring advertisers and media vendors to small business owners in an informal and friendly setting.

We need your help to facilitate round table discussions. Is there an area of advertising or marketing that you or someone you know is well versed in? We need volunteers to talk about any one of the following topics:

  • Marketing plans
  • Types of media and how to discern the best media for your business
  • Advertising budget
  • Why advertise?
  • Non-traditional advertising
  • When to invest in an agency

You will need to be able to lead a 30-minute discussion on the topic and answer questions from small business owners who have little to no knowledge of the topic. Final negotiations are underway for a location so if you’re wondering “where&8221; we’ll answer that question in the near future.

Please support the education committee by volunteering a few hours of your time. In return we’ll give you some free breakfast and a great opportunity to meet prospective clients!

If you are interested in participating as a round table leader please contact Lisa D’Agostino at 965.4322 or ldagostino@bozell.com.

How to Stop a Hurricane / Post-Katrina

Josh Mayer

“How to Stop a Hurricane” is about 2 things: your company and the work you do. But ultimately, it’s about one thing: survival. How to plan for the unknown knowing you can never plan for it completely. PSA Thank You

A special note from the 2007 OFA Public Service Campaign recipient:

“As you know, Youth Emergency Services helped nearly 800 homeless and at-risk young people last year. However, until your campaign, many in Omaha had never heard of our organization, and even more importantly, were not aware that homeless youth exist in our area. You have raised awareness of this important issue and led by example. Thank you and your committee for all your hard work.” &@12; Bob Storey, Executive Director, Youth Emergency Services.

In Memory of…

A dear friend and longtime OFA member, Gini Goldsmith, passed away this September of cancer. Gini retired from OPPD last year and had shared her talents on several OFA committees over the years. We thank her for her many contributions to the advertising community. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
