Karen Volkman is the Managing Director of the Midwestern Region Ad Council. The Advertising Council has had an extraordinary impact on generations of Americans. The campaigns have mirrored and influenced some of the most important social issues facing our country during the past six decades. Working with the advertising and media community, The Advertising Council public service campaigns have shaped American attitudes and behaviors. The presentation, “Public Service That Changed a Nation” will chronicle the 60+year history of the Ad Council public service campaigns. The presentation will include case studies of iconic campaigns such as Smokey Bear and “Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires” (USDA Forest Service), “A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste” (United Negro College Fund) and “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk” (U.S. Department of Transportation). Learn how The Ad Council has identified a select number of public issues and stimulated action on those issues through communications programs that have made a measurable difference in our society.
It’s an AdBites you won’t want to miss! Please RSVP by Monday, February 5 to Teri at teri@novia.net or 561-6625.
